A recent briefing paper discussing the future-readiness of multinational businesses and their operating environments revealed that Australia ranks seventh out of ten of the world’s biggest economies, scoring strongest in business preparedness. Although all the economies surveyed have healthy fundamentals, digging deeper into Australia’s results unearths concerns.
Particularly, Australian companies face a gulf between corporate strategy and implementation that delivers meaningful results. They have often done well in executing digital strategy but struggle to derive value from it. The lack of focus on outcomes in digital strategies is holding companies back and hindering improvements in productivity. Strong business leadership and goal-based strategies are needed to generate value from tech and talent.
